Yuta Nakayama joins Red Star Belgrade

Japanese defender Yuta Nakayama has signed for Serbian Superliga champions FK Crvena Zvezda. The 29-year-old's move was confirmed on Saturday, according to the AFC.

Nakayama previously played in Europe for PEC Zwolle and Huddersfield Town between 2019 and 2024. He returns to the continent after a pivotal season in Asia.

Nakayama was instrumental for FC Machida Zelvia during their debut season in the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26. He started 12 matches, including the final against Al Ahli Saudi FC. His performances were a cornerstone of their remarkable run.
