Kerala Blasters FC will announce its takeover by Al Fursan Sports Investment LLC at a press conference on September 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM in Kochi. The UAE-based sports consortium is set to become the new 100% owner of the Indian Super League club, replacing Magnum Sports Private Limited after eight years. The acquisition, valued at approximately ₹100-120 crore, will be completed in phases over the next eight months, spanning the 2026-27 ISL season.
Al Fursan signed a definitive agreement to acquire all shares from the Magnum group. The outgoing ownership described the decision to sell as difficult but expressed confidence in the foundations laid for the club's future. They highlighted the club's special place among supporters and stated they were leaving behind a stronger entity capable of adapting to changes in Indian football.
Leadership and operations outlined
Sheikh Ahmad bin Faisal Al Qasimi, a member of the Sharjah ruling family, leads the Al Fursan consortium. Day-to-day operations will be overseen by the Kerala-based sports management firm Ofioh Sporty, appointed as the club's operational partner. Ofioh Sporty CEO Thameem Anwar and co-founder Sharath Kuniyil will manage these functions.
The club has assured partners and supporters that operations and existing commitments will continue without disruption. Head coach Ashley Westwood will remain in charge for the upcoming season. The incoming ownership will gradually assume control, with the outgoing CEO being Abhik Chatterjee.
Season opener and fixtures confirmed
Kerala Blasters will begin their ISL 2026-27 campaign away at Inter Kashi on October 11. Their first home game at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi is scheduled against Mumbai City FC on October 25, with a 7.30 pm kick-off. The 2026-27 ISL season reintroduces a double round-robin system.
The club is set to play 14 matches in the first phase of the competition. The squad announcement is expected within three days. The team's training camp will begin in Chennai on Wednesday.
Deal structure and timing
The final agreement is imminent. Payment for the acquisition will be made in tranches over eight months, with the first deposit already completed. The new entity Project Blasters Private Limited was registered in Bengaluru on September 24, followed by Project Blaster Partners LLP on September 25. Project Blasters is described as a visionary initiative by the Al Fursan Group to support sports ecosystem investments.
Representatives from Al Fursan will detail the ownership structure and roadmap at the announcement. The club's official statement did not disclose financial terms. Kerala Blasters' training camp begins in Chennai on Wednesday as the club prepares for its ISL 2026-27 season opener under new ownership.
