Kerala Blasters ownership change for 2026-27
UAE's Al Fursan Group has completed a 100% takeover of Kerala Blasters FC, with the new management confirming the club's immediate pre-season plans.

Al Fursan Group, a UAE-based consortium backed by Sharjah's ruling Al Qasimi family, has acquired 100% ownership of Kerala Blasters FC. The definitive agreement with the Hyderabad-based Magnum Group was finalized at a news conference in Kochi on September 29th, just weeks before the 2026-27 Indian Super League season begins.
Magnum Sports had owned and managed the club since 2016. They completed financial, legal, and operational due diligence prior to the sale. The transaction is expected to be fully completed over eight months, subject to regulatory and league requirements, with the new ownership assuming responsibility from this season.
Pre-season preparations underway
The club has begun its pre-season training at the FC Madras facility in Mahabalipuram. The new management chose this location for isolation and focus during the shortened preparation period.
Ashley Westwood will continue as head coach and has arrived to take charge. He retains full authority over squad decisions. Preparations for the new season, including player identification and recruitment, are already in motion. Key player Adrian Luna will remain with the club, with updates on other foreign players expected shortly.
CEO Abhik Chatterjee described the ownership transition as an important moment in the club's history. He thanked players, coaches, staff, and supporters for their contributions under the previous ownership.
Home ground and schedule confirmed
Kerala Blasters will play the entire 2026-27 season at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi. The upcoming ISL season is scheduled to start on October 10th.
The club's opening fixture is set for October 11th, less than two weeks away. Their first two matches of the campaign will be away games.
Operational transition details
The acquisition was facilitated by Birbal Sports & Entertainment, founded by Jitesh Mehta and Ronak Dalal. They will also assist with player identification and recruitment for the coming season.
Al Fursan has appointed Ofioh Sporty as the club's operational partner. Ofioh CEO Thameem Anwar and co-founder Shararh Kuniyil will lead the operational mandate under Al Fursan’s strategic direction. The new ownership aims to provide enhanced structure, resources, and support to prepare the football department competitively.
The immediate focus is on the confirmed October 11th opening fixture in Ranchi.
