Fans Vote for AFC Champions League Elite Matchday 1 Top Goal

The AFC has launched a fan poll to crown the Visa Top Goal of Matchday One in the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite. The opening round of the continental competition produced a dozen spectacular finishes, ranging from last-gasp equalizers to debut strikes and hat-trick heroes.

Fans can watch video highlights of each nominated goal and vote on the AFC's website. The poll closes at 5 pm on September 24.

Nominated Goals from West Asia

The list includes crucial late drama from the defending champions. Feras Al Brikan scored in stoppage time to salvage a dramatic point for Al Ahli Saudi FC against Pakhtakor. His opponent, Flamarion, is also nominated for a superb solo effort where he ran the length of the pitch before chipping the goalkeeper.

Other West Asian contenders feature debut magic and a stunning consolation. Julian Quinones headed in Al Qadsiah Club's first-ever goal in the competition on his debut. For Esteghlal FC, Saeid Saharkhizan's goal involved a clever run and a precise finish. Alaa Eddin Hasan's spectacular long-range strike for Al Gharafa SC against Al Hilal SFC is nominated despite being a consolation goal.

Soufiane Rahimi's finish helped Al Ain FC secure a surprise 4-0 victory over Saudi giants Al Nassr Club.

Contenders from East Asia

In the East, hat-tricks and sensational volleys made the cut. Prince Ampem's first-half hat-trick for Shanghai Port FC against Ratchaburi FC earned a nomination, with the AFC highlighting his third goal as a perfect blend of skill. Aleksandar Cavric's third goal in Kashima Antlers FC's 7-1 thrashing of Newcastle Jets FC is also nominated for a smart run and composed finish.

Stefan Schimmer's sensational 43rd-minute volley for Buriram United against Johor Darul Ta'zim canceled out an earlier opener. Takashi Usami's powerful 20-yard strike for Gamba Osaka against Cong An Ha Noi FC brought his team back into the match.

Late Impact and Dramatic Finishes

The final nominations feature impactful substitutes and hard-earned goals. Victor Bobsin's 78th-minute effort for Daejeon Hanacitizen FC against Kyoto Sanga FC came after a goalmouth scramble, with his shot hitting the post before going in. Italo made an immediate impact off the bench for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC against Kashiwa Reysol, scoring just four minutes after entering the pitch to complete a comeback and secure a win.

The AFC states the opening matchday delivered 'a feast of memorable strikes' which lightened up the start of the new Elite season. The fan vote, presented by Visa, is now open to decide the best of them all.
