Ubaid Hussain eyes Qatar card, Ghazali fight
Unbeaten flyweight Ubaid Hussain, 20, won a US$100,000 ONE Championship contract after beating Isannuea Sor Sasiwat and now targets the promotion's 2027
Unbeaten British-Pakistani flyweight Ubaid Hussain has secured a US$100,000 main-roster contract with ONE Championship. The 20-year-old earned the deal with a dominant unanimous decision win over Thailand's Isannuea Sor Sasiwat at The Inner Circle 28 in Bangkok on Friday night.
Hussain dropped Isannuea with a body knee in the first round. He controlled the fight thereafter. ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong presented the unexpected six-figure contract after the bout. Hussain told the Bangkok Post he thought his chances were "50-50"going in, believing he needed a knockout. He argued his dominant three-round performance, which included a knockdown and minimal damage taken, justified the reward."ONE Championship is about dominance and dominating opponents and getting big wins, especially KOs,"Hussain said. He and his team at Kiatphontip in Leeds deliberately avoided rushing the process, unlike some young prospects."I think he talks too much crap. He doesn't really back it sometimes," Hussain said. He argued Ghazali's contract was "definitely rushed"and backed Ondash's win due to superior dominance and boxing."We're slowly going to build up and we're going to beat everyone," he said.
