Indian winger Rochharzela has agreed to join Sreenidi Deccan FC on a two-year contract. The 27-year-old's move to the Indian Football League (IFL) outfit was confirmed by sources close to the player.
The deal includes a clause that could extend Rochharzela's stay beyond the initial two years. This extension is contingent on Sreenidi Deccan, known as the Deccan Warriors, achieving promotion to the Indian Super League (ISL). The transfer marks the player's return to the I-League structure after spells in the top flight with NorthEast United FC and Mohammedan SC.
Career path and experience
Rochharzela began his professional career with Aizawl FC. He emerged as a promising attacking talent from Mizoram during his time there. His most notable season came in the 2019-20 I-League campaign, where he scored six goals for Aizawl.
His performances earned a move to the ISL in 2020 with NorthEast United FC. He spent three seasons with the Highlanders, gaining experience at the pinnacle of Indian club football. The winger later returned to the I-League, signing for Mohammedan SC. He was part of the Mohammedan squad that won promotion to the ISL for the 2023-24 season and remained with the Kolkata club for their top-division campaign.
Role and tactical flexibility
Rochharzela's primary position is as a winger. His ability to play on either flank is seen as a key asset for Sreenidi Deccan. This versatility offers the Deccan Warriors tactical flexibility in attack.
